COVID - 19 UpdateMarch 13, 2020

Dear North Branch Area  Families and Students,
At 11:00 pm on March 12, 2020 Governor Whitmer closed all Michigan schools, including North Branch Area Schools, from March 16, 2020 through April 5, 2020, in an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19.

At this time, North Branch Area Schools has not been notified of any positive cases of COVID-19, in our district.

One of the most effective of these practices is social distancing, and, to that end, all school associated activities, including athletics, clubs and events are suspended during this closure, effective March 13, 2020.

Our collective priority should be the mitigation of this highly contagious virus by engaging in behaviors which have been stressed repeatedly over the last few weeks and I am including a message from Lapeer County ISD Superintendent, Mr. Steve Zott, which has been sent to all county schools.

We know this upcoming closure will create hardship for some of our families. Rest assured, we will be working very closely with our state and local officials to determine next steps on how best to serve our students while following Governor Whitmer’s order. Additional communications on food service will be coming out in the near future as well as information about FABS daycare.

During this closure clubs may not meet, athletic teams may not practice and no events associated with our schools, or to be held on our campus, will continue.  Access to any building after today will not be possible.  The only office which will be open is the district office.  After today, any inquiries should be directed to that office (810) 688-3570.

We deeply regret this inconvenience, but we know these precautions are necessary to provide the safest learning environment. We greatly appreciate your understanding  and cooperation. The health and safety of our students, staff, and community is our highest priority. We are committed to providing families with updates as new information about the Coronavirus, COVID-19, becomes available.

This is a quickly evolving situation and we will use our school messenger system as well as social media to communicate any updates to you.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

James D. Fish
North Branch Area Schools, Superintendent
