Morgan Fike, a precocious junior at North Branch High School, passed away unexpectedly this afternoon.  “North Branch Area Schools and our entire community have suffered a tragic loss with Morgan’s passing,” said North Branch Superintendent, Jim Fish.   “I want to thank our administration, counselors, and local clergy for responding immediately and opening up our high school media center so friends of Morgan could congregate and mourn together,” added Fish.

Morgan was involved in band, bowling, and dance.   She was an extremely bright student taking AP classes in Calculus and Literature.  In the 7th grade she traveled to the high school to take Algebra with Mr. Burack who was her favorite teacher.   North Branch Band Director, Jeff Ehardt, said he had Morgan in class since the 5th grade and she was an excellent flute player.  “She was very feisty with a heart of gold,” commented Ehardt.  And, Morgan loved dancing and started at an early age with Dynamic Dance Studio in North Branch.

According to Morgan’s friends, she absolutely loved anything Disney related.  Her favorite movie was Beauty and the Beast and for Christmas she made her friends Disney pictures.   She always told people close to her she loved them. Morgan was very encouraging to everyone she knew.

The district’s heartfelt condolences go out to Morgan’s family and friends as we mourn with them.  The high school will have counselors and local clergy available throughout the day tomorrow (Monday) to provide grief counseling resources for staff and students.
