The K8ART Show begins today at Gallery 194 in downtown Lapeer. Every year the gallery hosts the artwork of young artists from all around Lapeer County. Each art teacher is allowed to submit up to 15 pieces. The “Meet the Artists” reception is this Saturday, February 27 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and it is free and open to the public. The work will be on display until March 19th. Gallery 194 is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00-6:00 P.M. The students from the Ruth Fox Elementary and the North Branch Middle School that have work on display include: Erin Walls, Adrianna Carr, Adryana Law, Rylee McIntyre, Gabe Baksa, Tessa Youngert, Solomon Stack, Caiden Mears, Madison Wiseman, Haley Hurd, Emily May, Cloey Chene, Brittany Broecker, Harley Yeo, and  Kya Hartzman. We would love to see any of you at the reception on Saturday, or stop in and view the work before March 19th. If you see any of these kids in the hall or in your classes please congratulate them on a job well done. Choosing 15 pieces out of the work of around 400 students so far this year was not an easy task, but these students had some outstanding artwork.

In addition to the K8ART Show, the gallery just took down the MAEA Regional 10 Show that included North Branch. Each MAEA member can submit 5 pieces from each level that they teach. The 5 fifth graders were: Myah Mclean, Mariah Carr, Maggie Lyons, Kyah Taylor, and Julia Redmond. In the 6-8 grade category: Kaylei Jackson, Seth Spencer, Mattea Swoish, Chloe McConnell, and Chelsea Winn.  This show was a juried show, and the artwork from Mariah Carr, Kaylei Jackson, and Mattea Swoish was chosen to move on to the state level!
