Dear Broncos,

North Branch Area Schools will hold a Mock Disaster Exercise this Friday, October 20th from 8:00 a.m. until noon at the high school.  School will NOT be in session for students as this is a county-wide professional development day.

The drill will be coordinated by the Lapeer County Emergency Management Office.  This will be a realistic training exercise and several emergency response vehicles from the fire and police departments, as well as several ambulances and safety personnel, will participate in the training exercise.  Every North Branch administrator and teacher including most of our support staff will be active participants in the drill with the following goals in mind:

· Develop an effective incident Command System in the district and in conjunction with first responders;

· Test the communication protocol for responding to a “disaster” situation in the school district;

· Provide training to employees that allow them to function effectively in the event of a real disaster;

· Test the ability to go into lock down in a safe and efficient manner.
