WELCOME BACK

We are excited for the 2024-25 school year to begin! 

5th -12th grade Chromebook pick-up will take place at Ruth Fox Middle School Tech Office (located by 7/8 gym) on:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 7th 4pm-6pm
  • Thursday, Aug. 8th 4pm-6pm
  • Monday, Aug. 12th 11am-6:30pm
  • Wednesday, Aug. 14th 3:30pm-8pm 
  • Thursday, Aug. 15th 8am-12pm

The computer lab will be open for families who need Internet access and/or assistance with forms. 

TIPS:

Aug. 14th is extremely busy due to RFMS Open House & all 5th grade students need a Chromebook. If you can come another evening, it will likely save you time. 

Skyward Family Access has the 2 required Chromebook forms as well as other required digital forms (e.g.,  Free/Reduced Lunch Form) and where you will access your child's schedule, grades, bus information and more!

HOW-TO SAVE TIME AT CHROMEBOOK PICK-UP

Complete the 2 required forms in Skyward Family Access:

  • 2024-25 AUP Acceptance Form
  • 24-25 Student Mobile Device Handbook

*NOTE: Be sure you are completing 2024-25 forms! Take a picture of your completed forms.

Skyward Family Access - Quick Guide 

Pay the $20 annual fee online (screenshot or take a picture of your online payment) OR pay $20 cash OR come with a check payable to North Branch Area Schools (capped at $60 per family).

If you have completed the 2 online forms & have the fee ready (cash, check or already paid online), you will complete a quick checklist list in the hallway & then will proceed to the Tech Office for the Chromebook; if you have not completed the online forms and/or need to pay online and need assistance, you'll head to the Media Center where there are computers and assistance available.

When entering requests through the online portal or email, please be certain to include your full name, your child’s name and grade, and a good phone number to call you back. This information will allow the Service Desk to provide the best possible service in the most efficient manner.

TECHNOLOGY USE 

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

  • COPPA applies to commercial companies and limits their ability to collect personal information from children under 13.
  • By default, advertising is turned off for the District’s presence in Google Apps for Education. No personal student information is collected for commercial purposes.
  • This permission form allows the school to act as an agent for parents in the collection of information within the school context. The school's use of student information is solely for education purposes.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

  • FERPA protects the privacy of student education records and gives parents the rights to review student records.
  • FERPA, schools may disclose directory information (See Board Policy) but parents may request the school not disclose this information. Parents are provided the opportunity

Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

  • Requires the school to have filters in place to protect students from harmful materials including the obscene.
